On Wedenesday,Principal Secretary(Home) and DGP presided Law and Order Review Meeting of a particular zone and gave the directions to not call the women and girls to police station.This is shameful and unacceptable.It clearly shows the helpness and failure of the top hierarchy of Police Administration and Uttar Pradesh Government,for not being able to ensure the safety of women in the state.This statement not only broaden the gap of mistrust between police and women,but also destablized the complete structure and management of Uttar Pradesh Police.Today,moral ethics and institutional integrity of Uttar Pradesh Police has been damaged by unlawful acts.Police is meant for safety of people especially women,weaker and vulnerable sections of the society,but if top police and administrative officials are giving this kind of statement,then it clearly shows that they have no control over the police administration of the state,and the government is only politicizing the working pattern of police in the state.I agree that policemen are also living in very bad situation,they are not able to work properly,but it doesn’t mean that they are permitted to kill or rape a girl.If the personal value and humanity of a policeman is killed due to the existing structure of police in the state,then it doesn’t mean that he would be transformed into a satan from savior.Today,policeman in Uttar Pradesh is indulged in every kind of unlawful and henious crime.The decision of establishing Women Police Stations only exist on paper.Uttar Pradesh Police has lost the sensitivity and commitment towards it’s duty.Uttar Pradesh is descending into chaos.What we can say,if Uttar Pradesh is facing such kind of situation inspite of having a women Chief Minister,who came with a pledge of making Uttar Pradesh free from mafia and gunda raj.How would I be able to forge a consensus on police reforms,how would I be able to gain the support for policemen,how would I be able to answer the questions about the kind of acts which policemen are performing in the state,for our book.It would take four or five years for the government and top hierarchy of police administration to restore the image of police in the state.
